Car Hires San Francisco and the Castro Street Fair
Celebrate diversity and acceptance during your upcoming Super Cheap Car Hires vacation by attending the legendary Castro Street Fair. Celebrated annually on the first Sunday in October, the Castro Street Fair celebrates San Francisco gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexual residents. The Castro Street Fair has been an integral part of the city since 1974, thanks to Harvey Milk and his courageous fight for equality. Customers of Super Cheap Car Hires San Francisco are invited to attend the festival and enjoy live music, street side vendors and exciting artistic presentations.
Get ready for an entertaining weekend
Customers of Super Cheap Car Hires San Francisco will find two live entertainment stages within the festival, along with two outdoor dance pavilions and Barnaby's World of Wonderment. The Main Stage, which is located at Market and Castro, is the hub of entertainment at the festival, hosting popular tribute bands and local ensembles. Past performers have including Diva Bowie, DJ Raffy and Cookie Dough & The Monster Show. The Red Rock Stage also features great live music at the corner of 18th Street and Collingwood. Customers of Super Cheap Car Hire San Francisco will find Barnaby's World of Wonderment, which is an interactive entertainment area focusing on the performance arts, located on 18th Street, between Hartford and Noe.
Browse exhibitors for unique gift ideas
One of the best parts about the Castro Street Festival is the wide range of onsite exhibitors. Customers of Super Cheap Car Hires San Francisco will find everything from pottery to sunglasses at the vendors, and all at great affordable prices. Organizations also set up vendor booths in order to provide fair-goers with information on local groups and community projects. Customers of Super Cheap Car Hires San Francisco are encouraged to stop by these booths to better educate themselves on San Francisco Castro community initiatives.
Celebrating the cause
All gate donations and proceeds from sales at the Official Castro Street Fair Beverage Booths are collected and donated directly to select Fair Beneficiaries. The Castro Street Fair is proud to support organizations dedicated to making a difference in the local community. With your help, more than half a million dollars has been donated to Fair Beneficiaries since 2001. Past charitable partners have included AIDS House Alliance, Haight Ashbury Nursery School, Visual Aid and Project Open Hand.
Things to remember about the Fair
Street closures are a big issue in San Francisco during the Castro Street Fair, as cars and public transit cannot access many of the major thoroughfares through the Castro. Thus, it is important to make note of the following road closures when traveling through the city the afternoon of the fair. Between 4am and 10pm Market Street (between Noe and Eureka) and Castro Street (between 16th and 19th) will be completely closed. 17th and 18th Streets between Noe and Diamond are also closed for the duration of the street fair. Customers of Super Cheap Car Hires San Francisco will find parking (for a fee) at the Everett Middle School Parking Lot, located on the north side of 17th Street between Church and Sanchez.
