LAX Airport Car Rental and Century City
Century City is a commercial and residential district on the west side of Los Angeles that you can visit with your LAX airport car rental. It is bordered by Rancho Park, Cheviot Hills, Beverlywood, and Beverly Hills. The major thoroughfares in the area for your LAX airport car rental include Santa Monica, Olympic, and Pico Boulevards, as well as Avenue of the Stars and Century Park East and West. Century City is where you will find many law firms and executives, especially those that are tied to the film, television, and music industries.
Look up!
There are many high-rise buildings along Wilshire Boulevard in Westwood that you can see with your LAX airport car rental. From a distance, they look like they blend in, but they are separated from the rest of the city by almost a mile. It is a contrast of the small apartment buildings and single-family detached homes that are in the area. Some of the first skyscrapers in the area were built here after the city removed the earthquake restrictions in the early 1960s. Some of the most recognized buildings in the area include Fox Plaza, headquarters for 20th Century Fox; Constellation Place, or MGM Tower; AIG SunAmerica Center; and Century Plaza Hotel and Towers.
Find a film (lot)
Century City was once a backlot for 20th Century Fox, which still has its headquarters just to the southwest. After 1961, Fox suffered a number of expensive flops, finishing with the disaster Cleopatra. At this time, the company had to sell 180 acres of land to developer William Zeckendorf and Alcoa. The developers had a vision of a "city within a city". The area was to be served by the Beverly Hills Freeway, but that was never built. When you come with your LAX airport car rental you might find traffic to be a little difficult because there is no direct freeway access to the centre of the city.
Shop till you drop
Just one block south of Rodeo Drive with your LAX airport car rental, the Century City Shopping Center is an upscale place to spend the afternoon with your LAX airport car rental and spend a little money. Many residents of Beverly Hills and Westwood come here to shop and you might catch a glimpse of a star or two while you are here. While you are here, be sure to stop by The Marketplace, an indoor/outdoor dining area which is part food court, part restaurant. You will find places like The Stage Deli, Johnny Rockets, and Houston's. To get here with your LAX airport car rental, you will need to make your way to the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Century Park West in the northwest portion of Century City.
Century City is a great place to come and see where Hollywood does a lot of the day-to-day business as well as some good shopping in Los Angeles with your LAX airport car rental.
