The purpose of the museum is to serve the community and children to help them learn and discover their world in a way they can understand. Since it opened in 1990, there have been over 3 million visitors hereto see the interactive exhibits. In 1997 the museum was expanded by twenty percent to bring even more to children.
Visiting the museum

The museum has a variety of exhibits that are designed for children at different developmental stages, with different interests and backgrounds. Some of the exhibits include Dragons & Fairies, Secrets of Circles, The Wonder Cabinet, Bubbalogna, Current Connections, Kids' Bank, Kids' Garden, Pizza Please, Post Office, Step into the Past, Streets, Theatre, and WaterWays.
As an example of what kids can learn from these exhibits, at the Kids' Bank, they will learn about the ebb and flow of currency systems. They learn how deposits and withdrawals work by using cranks, pedals, and levers.
Planning your visit
When you plan to visit the museum with your San Jose car rental, make sure you know in advance when you want to come. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Saturday it is open from noon until 5:00 p.m. During the holidays, the museum will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Day.
Admission for adults and children is $7. They do accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover here when you visit with your San Jose car rental.

The museum is located in downtown San Jose at the intersection of Woz Way and Auzerais Street. There is also public transportation available.
