A Tribute to the Duke

Known locally as the father of surfing, Duke Kahanamoku spread the sport of surfing from Hawaii to California more than a hundred years ago. The statue, which originally stood near the old Huntington Beach Pier, is draped with tropical flowers and regarded by locals as a good luck charm. A number of other important Duke mementos can be found inside the museum include one of the Duke's original surfboards, several trophies and a number of photos. There's even a Duke hood-ornament on display.
