San Francisco Car Hire and Lights Out San Francisco
Do you want to help conserve energy, but not sure how? Do you believe that one person really can make a difference in the fight to end global warming? If you answered yes to one or both of these questions, you're the perfect candidate for Lights Out San Francisco. This citywide energy conservation and awareness campaign began in 2007, culminating in a giant "dark-out" on October 20th. Citizens and San Francisco car hire travelers were all encouraged to turn off any non-essential lights for one hour that evening, in order to raise awareness about energy consumption and abuse. The Lights Out Movement continues to grow in San Francisco, so don't get caught with your lights on. Flip the switch to help conserve energy during your upcoming San Francisco car hire vacation.

Phase two: The downtown dark-out
Lights Out San Francisco is constantly looking for new and innovative ways to cut energy consumption in residential areas. But what about in major businesses? Is there a way that headquarters in downtown San Francisco can help reduce carbon emissions? Of course! Lights Out San Francisco is now embarking on phase two of their energy saving mission, focusing on the commercial buildings located downtown. This part of the project encourages downtown buildings to turn off their non-essential lights and appliances every night. The end result? The first dark skyline in the country!
Big names, making an even bigger difference
While each and every San Francisco car hire customer can help make a difference in the quest to conserve energy, it still takes some big name corporations to get the ball really rolling. Luckily, Lights Out San Francisco has this big name backing thanks to support from Google, Esurance, Gap Inc., Integrated Archive Systems and more. Without their help, Lights Out San Francisco would never have been able to find their way in the dark.
