Los Angeles County Fair

The Los Angeles County Fair is one of the largest county fairs in the county with more than one million people in the area. The fair has been running since 1922 as a link between the state's agriculture industry and the public. This is an opportunity for the community to learn about the heritage of California and a place for people to gather. When you are here with your LA car rental, you can enjoy the fair each September. There is plenty to do and eat when you are here.

Fair history

When you are here with your LA rental car, you may learn that the fair was opened in 1922 as a link between the public and the agriculture industry in California. When it first opened, the Fair was focused on harness racing, chariot races, and an airplane wing-walking exhibition. There were also livestock competitions. Today, the Fair is quite different from what it once was. Instead of livestock competitions, there is a petting zoo and rides. Some of the exhibitions you can find today include a flower and garden pavilion, A Pirate's Life, Jurassic Planet, The Industrial Age, and more. For 2010, there are unique exhibits such as one on the human body and on the wild west.

See a show

When you are here with your car rental LA, you can see a number of shows and concerts that the fair puts on every year. For 2010, some of the shows included an 80s All Star show which paid tribute to bands from Southern California such as Berlin, The Romantics, The Bangles, and more. There is also the Chinatown Kung Fu and Lion Dance Troup that practices the lion dance and kung fu. There are also community acts that perform, including musical performance, dance exhibitions, and other entertainment.

Grab a bite

When you are here with your LA car rental, you will find there are plenty of good choices for eating when you visit. However, most of them are not the healthiest choices, but they are tasty! There are more than 300 choices here!

Plan your trip

When you are here with your car rental LA, you can get a season pass for the duration of the fair for $24.95. If you'd rather get individual passes, the cost during the week is $12 for adults, $7 for kids (free for those under 5), and $9 for seniors (except Wednesdays when it is $6). On weekends and on Labor Day, admission is $17 for adults, $12 for kids (except for those under 5, who are free), and $14 for seniors. Parking is $10 or your rental car LA or $20 for VIP parking. The fair is open from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Labor Day, 10 a.m. until midnight on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. For the rest of the duration of the fair they are open from noon until 10 p.m. on Wednesdays, noon until 11 p.m. on Thursdays, noon to midnight on Fridays, 10 a.m. until midnight on Saturdays, and 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Sundays. They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. The Fairplex is located in Pomona and can easily be reached from all areas in Southern California.

When you are here with your LA car rental, you will find there is plenty to do at the Los Angeles County Fair. This is one of the biggest fairs in the country with more than 1 million people attending each year. Don't miss out on the fun and action when you are in town during the month of September each year.
