How it all Began
The original pueblo of Los Angeles was built in 1781 by 44 settlers of the city. It began with the name Wine Street and changed its name to Olvera Street in 1877. The street was extended and it was named after Agustin Olvera. Agustin was a judge in LA and he had a home at the end of this street right across from the Plaza. There were many historic buildings that surrounded the street but soon, the street went into decline. Christine Sterling was appalled by the state of this beautiful street, so she started a campaign to try to save it. Her vision for the street was to be a cultural center for people to gather and a Mexican marketplace where everyone could eat and enjoy. With the help of some wealthy men, she started to reconstruct the street the way she thought it should be. This is how Olvera Street all began, discount car rental customers.
