Car Rental in California and an Orange County Wineries Overview

California is known for its wineries, most famously perhaps for the Napa Valley. Within the last century it has been recognized as producing some of the world’s finest wines, among those such as the French, Australian, and South Africans. However, there are some great wineries near Orange County that you can visit with your car rental in California.

A short trip away

The Temecula Valley is a booming wine region that is one of the fastest-growing in the area. The first winemakers here were the mission padres, but the tradition still lives on. One of the oldest wineries in the California, Bella Vista Cilurzo Vineyard and Winery can be found here with your car rental in California. Although the area is small, it is significant. There are several small vineyards that you can visit while you are here. Many offer modern tasting rooms designed for groups of people.

Sample a few

The Temecula Valley has a unique geography that make it ideal to grow grapes in a region that receives relatively low rainfall. The growing season generally runs from March through September, and provides an ideal climate for growing high-quality grapes. Many of the wines produced here include award-winning Chardonnay. Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc. More recently there have been varieties such as Viognier, Syrah, and Pinot Gris. The hot climate also allows for production of Cabernet and Zinfandel varieties, but it does not produce a good Pinot Noir.

Branch out

California Wineries are given designations in the American Viticultural Areas. The Temecula Valley is part of the South Coast AVA, which also includes the San Pasqual Valley and Ramona Valley, which you can also visit with your car rental in California.

There are a number of wineries that you can visit with your car rental in California in the area. The Bella Cilurzo Vineyard & Winery is one of the oldest in the area and not one to miss. There is also Callaway Vineyard & Winery, Briar Rose Winery, Galleano Winery, Luttgens Family Vineyards, Mount Palomar Winery, Santa Margarita Winery, SC Cellars, South Coast Winery, Stuart Cellars Winery Resort & Spa, and Temecula Crest Winery among many others.

Visiting a winery with your car rental in California for the day is a great idea. These places have become famous within the last fifty years or so and are now know for producing some of the world’s best wines. Why not head out for the day to tour the facilities and enjoy a wine tasting or two. There are also organized trips that will take you to the vineyards so that you don’t have to worry about driving. With so many diverse flavors of wine, an exciting day lies ahead.
