San Francisco Rent a Car and San Fran International Airport

The San Francisco International Airport is located13 miles south of downtown San Fran, and is adjacent to the cities of Millbrae and San Bruno in the unincorporated county of San Mateo. The largest airport in the San Francisco Bay Area, the San Francisco International Airport services many destinations throughout the Americas as well as many prominent European, Australian and Asian gateway cities. San Francisco International Airport is also a major national transportation center, ranking amongst the twelve largest and most profitable airports in the country. A major hub for United Airlines and Virgin American, the San Francisco International Airport is proud to provide car rental San Francisco travelers with quick and easy access to all their favorite vacation destinations. Easily accessible through an adjacent connection to U.S. Route 101, the San Francisco International Airport offers travelers the perfect facility for first-class travel both near and abroad.

Terminal Setups

The San Francisco International Airport is currently composed of four separate terminals, each dedicated to a different area of either international and/or domestic travel. Terminal 1, formerly known as the South Terminal is currently home to two Boarding Areas consisting of gates 20 through 48. It is important for car rental San Francisco travelers to note that Rotunda Area A is no longer in commission inside Terminal 1 as it is slated to be demolished shortly. Boarding Areas B and C currently service a wide variety of North American destinations and airlines include Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, Midwest Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and US Airways. Terminal 2, which was originally named the Central Terminal, is also currently out of commission due to demolish procedure. Once it opens back up it will become the permanent home of Virgin America. Terminal 3 at the San Francisco International Airport (formerly the North Terminal), is currently home to Boarding Areas E and F. Car rental San Francisco customers traveling with United or American Airlines will likely utilize this terminal for boarding. The fourth and final terminal inside San Francisco International is the recently opened International Terminal North Americas largest airport terminal currently in operation. The design of the terminal (which hangs securely atop the airports main access road), includes numerous earthquake base isolators, making it the largest building in the world to be considered earthquake-safe. There are currently two Boarding Areas in this terminal with Area A servicing gates 1 through 12 and Area G servicing gates 91 through 102. The four terminals are organized in a convenient circle, providing car rental San Francisco travelers with easy access to a wide variety of services and amenities.

Airport Facilities and Services

The San Francisco International Airport is currently home to a wide variety of amenities and services all of which are designed to help make your car rental San Francisco vacation easier. Top attractions within the airport include the Louis A. Turpen Aviation Museum and the San Francisco Aviation Library. Public Wi-Fi internet services are also available throughout most of the terminal areas thanks to T-Mobile. Other facilities within the airport include public showers and washrooms, numerous shopping outlets, a medical clinic, and assistance for lost or stranded car rental San Francisco travelers. If youve got some time to spare during your trip to the airport, Super Cheap highly recommends visiting the International Terminal for a quick bite to eat. Instead of the normal hodgepodge of customary fast-food chains, the International Terminal only showcases Bay Area restaurants, providing foreign travelers with their first tastes of the Foodie State!
