Top Shopping – The Westside & Beverly Hills
Beverly Hills has always been synonymous with first-class – be it accommodations, dining, or shopping. From designer handbags to high-end shoes, this is one shopping district you don't want to miss. And while the vast majority of us can't afford to shop at luxury fashion houses and boutiques, there are a few locations that LA car rental travelers can check out for affordable souvenirs and collectables.
LA car rental shopping stop one: Beverly Boulevard
Having trouble finding fantastic furnishings in Los Angeles? Well, look no further than Beverly Boulevard during your upcoming LA car rental vacation. The stretch of street from Robertson Boulevard to La Brea Avenue is Los Angeles premier shopping street, especially when it comes to 20th century furnishings. Expensive showrooms line the street, showing off Stickley and Noguchi pieces. Modernica is probably the best known of the stores, as well as the most affordable.
When it comes to fashion, check out British designer Stella McCartney at 8823 Beverly Boulevard. Housed in an ivy-covered cottage, this charming store features McCartney's entire line, including fragrances, footwear and handbags. LA car rental travelers that have a thing for shoes should head to Re-Mix, a happenin' footwear store that sells only brand new vintage-style kicks. Choose from wingtips, Hush Puppies, and 1970s platforms. Celebrities from Madonna to Roseanne Barr can be found browsing the racks here.
LA car rental shopping stop two: La Brea Avenue
Just north of Wilshire Boulevard sits LA's artsiest shopping district. Anchored by a gigantic American Rage Cie alterna-complex, this shopping area features tons of great urban antique stores. Vintage clothiers, furniture galleries and other eclectic retailers can also be found throughout the area. If you're hungry, park your LA car rental and head to one of the city's finest restaurants, Campanile. The La Brea Bakery is another poplar choice – lucky for LA car rental travelers, it's located right next door to Campanile.
Amateur interior designers will spend hours browsing the racks at Liz's Antique Hardware. Known for it's eclectic mix of merchandise, this store features doorknobs, latches, finials and ceramic bathroom fixtures for as far as the eye can see.
LA car rental shopping stop three: Robertson Boulevard
Celeb sightings are an everyday occurrence when you stop and shop on Robertson Boulevard. Trendy socialites like Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, and Lindsay Lohan are always popping in and out of trend-obsessed boutiques like Kitson, Lisa Kline, and Dolce & Gabbana. If you can afford to grab a snack after shopping at these expensive shops, head to the Ivy – you'll likely see another half dozen celebrities while sipping on your cocktail!
LA car rental shopping stop four: Rodeo Drive & Beverly Hills' Golden Triangle
A shopping trip to Beverly Hills wouldn't be complete without a visit to Rodeo Drive. Couture shops and fashion houses are located along three hallowed blocks, with new designers moving in regularly. LA car rental travelers will also discover two mini-malls in the area – the Rodeo Collection and 2 Rodeo. Both include luxury labels and designer clothing boutiques. If you want to explore more of Beverly Hills top shop, simply keep walking. The 16-block area that surroundings Rodeo Drive is known as the Golden Triangle and includes plenty of upscale (but reasonably priced) items. Super Cheap highly recommends checking out Little Santa Monica Boulevard for a particularly clever array of shops. Parking in the area is a steal, thanks to nine-city run lots offering two hours of free parking and a flat fee of $2 after 2pm.
Other great shopping destinations are located along West 3rd Street and The Sunset Strip. Both offer independent retailers and plenty of great souvenir shops.
