Top Shopping – Hollywood

Hollywood is home to some unique shopping options, especially if you're a Los Angeles car rental tourist on the hunt for amazing movie memorabilia. From movie star autographs to vintage props, there's something for every starstruck travelers along Hollywood's top shopping streets.

Los Angeles car rental stop one: Hollywood Boulevard

This world renowned tourist destination is known for housing some great Hollywood bargain shops. Grab a slice of pizza from one of the many street side vendors and enjoy an afternoon of eclectic window shopping. Los Angeles car rental travelers will find excellent poster shops, souvenir stores and original t-shirt stores. There are also plenty of Hollywood-memorabilia dealers worth checking out along the strip. Super Cheap's pick for bargains on Hollywood Boulevard has to be the Hollywood Book and Poster Company. Here you'll find television and movie scripts for $10, and awesome movie posters for just $15.

Los Angeles car rental stop two: Larchmont Boulevard

This old-fashioned street is located just east of the always busy Vine Avenue. While the main streets of Hollywood can often come across as cheesy tourist hubs, this street is known for hosting some of the area's best boutiques and cafes. The Hancock Park homes that surround this area are becoming increasingly popular with trendy artists and young industry types, giving rise to numerous restaurants and stylish meeting establishments. Chains like Jamba Juice and the Coffee Bean are also represented, but most of the real estate is still dominated by Mom and Pop shops. Los Angeles car rental travelers are encouraged to pull into one of the charming diagonal parking spots and spend the afternoon window shopping along the tree-lined street. Top shops in this area include Chevalier's Books, Village Footwear, and Le Petite Retreat Day Spa.

Los Angeles car rental stop three: Melrose Avenue

This Hollywood staple is beginning to show some wear and tear, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth checking out during you upcoming Los Angeles car rental shopping excursion. Cutting-edge fashions are still flourishing along Melrose Avenue, providing shoppers with plenty of unique wardrobe additions. Hip restaurants and funky shops line the street, peddling everything from green-patent leather cowboy boots to antique furnishings. If you're planning to shop this lengthy street, Super Cheap recommends parking at the east end and popping into the following establishments:

I.A. Eyeworks: Located at 7407, this seemingly inconspicuous eyeglass store features revolutionary eye ware, medical supplies, and stylish accessories. Off The Wall Antiques: Located at 7325 Melrose Avenue, this quaint store is overflowing with kitschy collectables. Neon lights and cheeky signs are popular amongst the younger crowd that shops here. Wasteland: If you need to relax for a few minutes during your shopping trip, stop in at Wasteland at 7248 Melrose Avenue. This Bay Area hipster hangout is easy to spot – just look for the enormous steel-sculpted facade.

Los Angeles car rental stop four: Melrose Heights (between La Cienega Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue)

Hollywood wouldn't be complete without a high-end shopping neighborhood loaded with designer labels. Melrose Heights is just such a locale, providing Los Angeles car rental shoppers with unlimited spending opportunities. Anchored by the venerable Fred Segal, Melrose Heights features boutiques from Diane Von Furstengerg, Paul Smith, and L.A. jewelry designer Suzanne Felsen. Los Angeles car rental travelers will also find not one, not two, but three Marc Jacobs locations between 8400 and *410 Melrose Avenue.

Serious shoppers will find plenty of great bargains and sales in Hollywood, along with a number of designer showcases. If you can, try and shop during the week in order to avoid crowds of tourists on the weekend. Street parking is available in most areas, and parking garages are easy to find.
