San Francisco Events

San Francisco is filled with wonderful activities that appeal to all interests and all ages, so make sure your car hire is ready to go and get ready to have some fun! The streets are always filled with unique street vendors and amazing entertainers waiting to wow you with their talents, so much of a day can be spent simply wandering around town. However, if you would like to organize a set schedule or if you have a specific interest to explore, San Francisco has a number of special events that can be enjoyed annually with your car hire.

Current dates listed are for this year, however, the events usually take place around the same time frame every year. For more information, stop by the San Francisco Tourist Center in your car hire for an updated listing!

Get Up and Party at the Chinese New Year Parade!

February 11
As the biggest Chinese celebration outside of Asia, this event is definitely a party! The dancers, extravagant costumers, and martial-arts experts will amaze you throughout the day long celebration. You can find your own spot to watch the parade along Market and Second Streets or pay $30 for a bleacher seat on Kearny Street. Parking is usually packed on this day so try to leave your car hire at the hotel.

Run Like You've Never Run Before in the Bay to Breakers Race!

May 16
This annual race which spans almost seven and a half miles showcases naked runners in crazy costumes as they compete to cross the finish line! It's surely a one of a kind event unique only to San Francisco so at least drive by with your car hire!

Celebrate Ethnicity at the Carnaval San Francisco!

May 29 to 30
Come see exquisite colors and beautiful costumers as people of all ethnicities take to the streets to celebrate "Fiesta de Tambores - All Life Moves in Rhythm." This parade starts at 9:30 am at the corner of 24th and Bryant Streets before ending at the festival on Harrison Street in between 16th and 23rd Streets.

Show Your Pride at the LGBT Pride Parade and Festival

June 26 to 27
As one of San Francisco's biggest parties all year long, come out and support the gay and lesbian community and visit the food, drink, and collector booths that vendors have for you. Hundreds of thousands of people come out to see the annual Sunday parade each year, which is still going strong since its debut in 1970!

Tempt Your Taste buds at the Gilroy Garlic Festival!

July 23 - 25
With everything from garlic hot sauce to garlic fries and even garlic ice cream, you'll want to come to this event in your car hire with an empty stomach to try all of the delicious samples. And most say that the garlic ice cream is surprisingly tasty!

Listen to the Tunes at the Monterey Jazz Festival

September 17 - 19
Rev up the engine of your car hire and come and listen to over five hundred acts from around the world as they perform jazz tunes across five stages throughout the Monterey fairgrounds. With everything from accomplished jazz bands to budding student performers, this jazz festival is a must for any music lover!

Have Some Fun at the Folsom Street Fair!

September 26
This event is a San Francisco institution and also happens to be the biggest event based solely on leather in the world! That's right! If you have an open imagination, come on out and see where 300,000 San Franciscans and visitors from around the world model their intimate leather accessories. As the finale of Leather Pride Week, the Folsom Street Fair also has two stages, a dance floor, and roaring entertainment daily, so be sure to bring your dancing shoes!

Party for a Good Cause at the Castro Street Fair!

October 3
Come have fun, grab some specialty foods from local vendors or some unique craft items from artists themselves, because every penny you spend goes to such organizations as the Stop AIDS Project, the Gay Men's Chorus, the Harvey Milk Institute, the Names Project, McKinley Elementary School, and many more! This popular event has been held every October since 1974 and features musical and comedy entertainment all day long.

Be Amazed at the Burning Man!

November 27 to December 10
This week long neo-tribal art festival has many unique exhibits including explosive art projects and the annual burning of the forty foot man. For those with open minds and looking for a unique San Franciscan time, this annual event is definitely one of a kind! This event is located outside of San Francisco so it's a perfect time to take advantage of your car hire from Super Cheap.

See Santa at the San Jose Holiday Parade!

December 5
Since 1981 this annual event has drawn spectators of all ages because of the wonderful marching bands, floats, confetti cannons, balloons, clowns, animals and more that the parade features! In fact, it has even been voted one of the best twenty-five parades in all of the United States! The parade starts at Santa Clara Street and Delmas Avenue and continues east on Santa Clara Street, turning right on Market Street, and then going south past Plaza de Cesar Chavez Park. It finally ends at San Carlos Street.
