Discount Car rentals and the Green Line

The Green Line transit system in San Francisco, California, is a part of Light Rail line currently servicing highly populated areas of California. The Green Line runs east to west servicing the communities of Norwalk through to Redondo Beach. Other Light Rail systems in California include the Blue Line which runs from Downtown Los Angeles to Long Beach, the Gold Line which also runs from Downtown Los Angeles, only this time to Pasadena; and the Expo Line which runs from Downtown LA to Santa Monica. There are also two Gold Line extensions in the process of being built including the Eastside extension from Downtown LA to East LA and the extension from Pasadena to Claremont. This section of Super Cheap Car Rental's transit system overview focuses mainly on the Green Line Light Rail system but be sure to take a look at the Metrolink transit system overview pages !

The Green Line is a Light Rail system. Light Rail systems are a modernized version of electric trolleys and streetcars, which were once the main form of transportation in Los Angeles and other worldwide metro locations. Light Rails are fast, (with speeds that never slow, even during rush hour!), quiet, comfortable, and environmentally friendly compared to buses. Since California is recognized as having some of the nation's worst traffic congestion catching the Green Line Light Rail system is a great way to get off the freeway and get moving! Arrival and departure time on the Green Line Light Rail system are extremely accurate - in fact, you can normally pinpoint them within a minute or two, which helps keep you on time and on track!

Capacity inside a Green Line Light Rail train is approximately six times more than the average public bus, which is close to 230 people! With numbers like this the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority is able to keep operation costs down helping to save you valuable money! Fares start as low as $0.45 a ride and never exceed $2.70 - talk about value! Just think of all the gas money you could save riding the rails everyday! Over 23000 riders take advantage of the Green Link Light Rail line every day thanks to the trains' relaxed, comfortable ride. The Green Line train runs seven days a week, 365 days a year along the Glenn Anderson (Century) Freeway, also known as I-105. The Green Line makes a split at the Aviation station, connecting to the free LAX shuttle on one side, while continuing south on an elevated right-of-way passage, finally coming to an end at Marine Avenue.

The Green Line Light Rail System offers a safe and efficient form of transportation that is both environmentally friendly and customer approved. Light Rail trains are NOT powered by fossil fuels, resulting in cleaner air and minimal exhaust pollution. Studies have shown that the average Los Angeles area driver wastes an extra 204 gallons of fuel every year thanks to traffic jams and construction delays so it's no wonder there's so much smog in LA! By riding the Green Line you can help to drastically reduce the pollution in California, so what are you waiting for! Leave that super cheap car rental at home tonight and take the Green Line Light Rail System!

Since the early 1960's Californians have depended on the quick and easy trolley system transportation available in cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco. The Light Rail systems of today are helping to turn back the clock in southern California, while at the same time reducing pollution and decongesting freeways. Super Cheap Car Rental encourages you to take a ride on the Green Line during rush hour traffic to help avoid heavy traffic flows and unplanned backups. For more information on the Green Line Light Rail system please visit the transit system overview at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's website at www.mta.net. Green Line transit system overviews for routes and station information can be found at http://www.metro.net/riding_metro/.
