Car Rental in San Francisco: Live Music Scene in San Fransico
Haight Street
A legendary and internationally known destination in San Francisco, California is the one and only Haight Street. Known locally as simply The Haight or The Haight-Ashbury, this street is home to some of the best nightclubs and live music entertainment in all of San Francisco. A common favourite of car hires under 25, The Haight begins on Gough near Market Street, and runs a full 18 blocks ending at Stanyan Street, better known as the entrance to the Golden Gate Bridge. Divisadero Street separates the Haight into to separate halves, respectively called the Upper and the Lower Haight.
The Haight is always teeming with tourists, but many locals continue to roam the streets, visiting the little Mom & Pop stores that continue to do business there. If you're under 25 with a rented car, be careful to watch for pedestrians, they're everywhere!
If you're interested in a little bit of Haight Street history, listen to this: The Grateful Dead, Graham Nash and many other rock stars used to call The Upper Haight home. The Summer of Love tour used Haight Street as a primary site back in 1967, and is where George Harrison took his famous walk, surrounded by Flower Children, while he strummed his guitar.
As you can see Haight Street is rich with musical history, but don't worry, it's not extinct! Many of the local clubs and bars offer life music of both up and coming local bands, along with established artists.
Rock and Roll really not your thing? Why not head over to another popular destination for under 25 car hires? San Francisco's SOMA is the best place to go to find ultra modern electronic music clubs, along with hip hop and chill art lounges.
