San Francisco International Airport:

Get Ready for Great San Francisco Car Rentals!

Often called the "Gateway to the Pacific," the San Francisco International Airport is an amazing, state-of-the-art facility that is one of the busiest airports in the United States. Located just south of San Francisco, the Airport serves the Golden Gate city as well as the Silicon Valley and the rest of the Bay area. After you arrive, we can arrange to pick you up as you get ready to experience great San Francisco car rentals! You will find that reserving car rentals has never been easier when you visit San Francisco and experience this magnificent city. San Francisco car rentals can make your dreams become a reality!

Domestic and International Flights

The San Francisco International Airport welcomes domestic flights from the United States as well as international visitors from around the world. Many people will visit San Francisco on a layover for future connections to Europe, the Pacific, and Latin America. Make the most of your layover and reserve one of our car rentals while in San Francisco! The International Terminal at San Francisco International Airport welcomes the following carriers: Aeroflot, Air China, Air France, Air Tran, Alaska, All Nippon Airways, Asiana, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, China Airlines, EVA Airways, Japan Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Korean Air, LACSA, Lufthansa, Northwest Airlines, Mexicana Philippine Airlines, Singapore Airlines, TACA, United Airlines, and Virgin Atlantic. San Francisco car rentals are perfect for every visitor from every country, as long as you bring your international driver's license!

The Airport's Layout

The other three terminals at the San Francisco International Airport are laid out in a ring design and are linked by the AirTrain internal transit system. Visitors can enjoy many restaurants, bars, shops, cash machines, and newsstands in each of the terminals. Terminal One serves flights from Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, America West Airlines, ATA Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Mesa Airlines, Midwest Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Sun County Airlines, and US Airways. Terminal Three welcomes flights from American Airlines, United Airlines, and United Express, while Terminal Two is presently closed for renovations.

What is the AirTrain?

The AirTrain is a "people mover" inside the San Francisco International Airport that allows visitors to travel freely throughout the four terminals. You can hop on the AirTrain from any terminal and all parking garages and let the airport do all the work for you! Traveling in the airport is now as easy and convenient as traveling in one of our San Francisco car rentals!

Facts about the AirTrain:

  • The AirTrain runs twenty-four hours a day and service can be as fast as every four minutes.
  • You can take airport luggage carts on the AirTrain, but be sure to use the convenient hand brakes.
  • If you forget any item while on the AirTrain, just dial *1127 from any of the courtesy phones and the airport staff will gladly assist you.
  • You can not eat, drink, or smoke while on the AirTrain.
  • You can take bicycles aboard the AirTrain.
  • Only service animals and animals being shipped are allowed on the AirTrain, and must be in crates at all times.

When Should You Arrive for Your Flight?

It is always a good idea to check with your individual carrier, however, the general rule is that you should arrive one to two hours before departure for domestic flights and two to three hours before departure for international flights. Driving to the Airport from San Francisco in Our Car Rentals:
  • Drive on 101 South until you take the San Francisco International Airport exit.
  • Follow either the Domestic or International Flight roads (depending on your destination).
  • Choose between Arrivals, Departures, or Hourly Parking.
It is as easy as 1, 2, 3 with our San Francisco car rentals!

Airport Extras

The San Francisco International Airport is also home to a medical clinic which can be reached at (650) 821-5601 for information or appointment times, and the amazing San Francisco Airport Commission Aviation Library. The library and aviation museum is located inside the international terminal and preserves the history of commercial aviation in 11,500 square feet of intriguing fun! Use our San Francisco car rentals to reach either the medical clinic or the aviation library at any time during your trip.
