A glamorous gateway to Hollywood
The father and son architectural team of John Parkinson and Donald B. Parkinson designed Los Angeles Union Station. This team is also responsible for the designs behind Los Angeles City Hall, as well as a number of other prominent city landmarks. The station's design combines Spanish Colonial, Mission Revival and Streamline Modern styles, creating a classy building and timeless elegance. Highlights throughout the building include travertine marble covered walls, terra cotta tiles and sparkling chandeliers. Super Cheap Discount Car Rentals' customers may also notice a number of Moorish architectural images inside the main waiting room, such as the prominent design theme of eight-pointed stars. Attached to the south of the station's main building is yet another masterpiece of Los Angeles architecture. Designed by southwestern architect Mary Colter, this building once functioned as Union Stations remarkable station restaurant "Harvey House". Unfortunately, the restaurant is no longer in use. Like many other Angelean locations, Harvey House is only used as an occasional filming location for movies.
