The Western Addition is one of the most ethnically and economically diverse neighborhoods in San Francisco. Believed to be one of the first places where San Franciscos African American community was established, it was also home to many Japanese-Americans before World War II. During World War II, the vacant homes the Japanese-Americans left were quickly filled by Jewish immigrants.
