About Will Rogers
Rogers was a well-known movie star, radio personality, news paper columnist and accomplished polo player. Will Rogers had an enormous impact on the sport, as he was an influential figure who supported the game and increased its popularity. While he was relatively competitive on the field, once the game was over Rogers was never a sore loser, as he had a true love for the game. He was also known for being a generous man, as he would pay for polo teams from schools in New Mexico and Oklahoma to travel to California and play the Stanford University Team. He sponsored many events himself, and was always willing to help finance teams. When Rogers passed away in 1935, he was the highest-paid actor in Hollywood, and may have even been considered the most famous man in America. However, an important aspect of his legacy is that it continues to advance the sport of polo.
